I have dozens of stored favorites I've collected over the past few years on CP Live, a simple 'import favorites from V *' would seem to make so much sence..... any other way of doing it ALK?

Sorry it's not possible as these are different apps and Apple do not provide the option for one app to access another apps folder as they are not accessible.

Very short sightedness on the part of Copilot for not including a way to transfer Favorites to new versions.

Make the decision to upgrade that much harder.

Also a very poor excuse to blame Apple for this.

If "Live" services can be transferred, Favorites should be able to be too.

Guess Copilot just doesn't care about that.

That's a really poor effort from ALK. iTunes allows users to access "documents/files" under Apps->Documents so it would be a no brainer to put the favourites as a "document" which user can save and then copy across to new app!

It's very silly to expect people to have to manually re enter favourites. What is the purpose of them then?? Have you had to manually save your bookmarks when upgrading to new version of firefox / chrome or Internet explorer ?

Of course it is possible, just not supported. Why do ALK perpetually lie on this type of issue.

Would be good if we could upload favs to our CP live accounts from old version and import it in new version. The same account works on both versions.

Hi,

I had a copy of v8 and have upgraded today to Live. So far so good - but my favourites list (which contained quite a few entries) doesn't seem to have auto-imported.

Is it possible to auto-import them, or export/import from v8?

If not, could you make it so? :-)

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Import "Favourites" from v8 to Live on iPhone.

It is true that the Apple API does not allow normal applications to access each others' files. It would be a "simple matter" however to add an option to v8 to email the stored locations in some standard format to a specified address.

The text of the mail could then be copied by the normal iPhone text select/copy/paste mechanism into an option in v9 with a text entry field.

I have quoted "simple matter" because it is not trivial, but I have written this sort of thing before in iPhone apps and it is certainly not impossible.

I had the same response from ALK - shame on them!!!
Using DiskAid, just copy the favorites.lst from the old software directory to the new directory.
Job Done!!!!
Easy
